Photography by Gerry Villani
For more than two decades, I have photographed the world as I encounter it- with curiosity, patience, and a camera in hand.
My Dreamstime collection contains more than 1,300 photographs documenting places, people, architecture, landscapes, public art, travel, and the everyday details that often go unnoticed.
My photography is rooted in observation. I am interested not only in the obvious landmark, but in the character of a place – the streets, signs, buildings, murals, people, textures, contrasts, and unexpected moments that give a location its identity.
The Pacific Northwest
Oregon and the Pacific Northwest are an important part of my photographic archive.
My collection includes Portland, Salem, the Oregon Coast, Oregon landscapes and farmland, covered bridges, small communities, public art, architecture, and the changing urban environment of the region.
These photographs are intended to be useful as well as visually interesting – images that can help tell the story of a place.
Beyond Oregon
My camera has also taken me far beyond the Pacific Northwest.
My Dreamstime collection includes photography from destinations not only in the United States, but also Asia.
Travel photography allows me to do what I enjoy most: walk, observe, and photograph.
I often wander without a rigid plan, allowing the environment to reveal itself. Sometimes the result is a landmark photograph. Sometimes it is a person, a wall, a street corner, a piece of public art, or an ordinary moment that suddenly becomes visually compelling.
